Add Captions to Videos

Subtitles are often overlooked when uploading content. Auto-generated captions can catch the gist of a message, but make plenty of mistakes. Having accurate captions is crucial not only for accessibility & inclusivity, but also because 80% of people are more likely to watch a video the whole way through with good captioning (Verizon Media). For your brand, that means more engagement

  • Luckily, you can create your own separate captions file (either .SRT, .SBV, .VTT) to upload with your video to create easy, accurate subtitles across several different platforms.

  • At Greyduck, we include an .SRT file with every applicable video, but creating them on your own is easy too. Here’s how we do it:

    • 1. Upload your video to YouTube

    • 2. Publish it as an Unlisted video

    • 3. Once published, click the Subtitles tab, then Add

    • 4. Select Auto-sync and paste in the video’s script

    • 5. Here, you can reformat your captions to make sure each screen is legible.

    • 6. Once it’s finished processing, you can download your SRT file.

    • 7. When uploading your video to any compatible platform, there’ll be a place
